Indica and Sativa strains make up half of the Californian Orange strain, which Dutch Passion sells only. Since the 1980s, this strain has solely been inbred rather than mixed with other strains, making it a true classic. As you would have imagined, the genetics come from a high-quality Californian strain, providing it a potent but social impact. Strong and stable, the strain produces a rich scent and excellent resin production.

The strain is also feminised, which means that only a small percentage of the seeds will become male plants. Planting two times as many seeds as necessary to achieve the required number of productive females is common among breeders who believe that male plants serve no use other than taking up valuable crop space. An unnecessary expenditure, especially given that not everyone has easy access to a vast number of obtainable resources.

The fact that Dutch Passion was the first breeder to produce a 95 percent female crop makes it simple to trust them with the genetic mutation that can occasionally harm the strain's flavour. It's only for breeding purposes that normal seeds are still relevant nowadays. However, male pollen is no longer the only choice for breeding future crops. More often than not, it is now able to stress female plants in such a way that they generate this pollen as well. It's a difficult task, thus it's not recommended for new breeders.

This variety may grow up to 1.2 to 2 metres in height and produce 400 grammes per hectare, which is rather outstanding. The Californian Orange will continue to be a Dutch Passion favourite for many years to come, despite being a strain straight from the 1960s hippy age.
